Introduction

the-phone-book.com was a digital publishing project that ran from 2000 to 2003, commissioning international new works of ultra-short fiction for quarterly distribution by wireless and traditional internet.

the-phone-book.com was conceived by Creative Director Ben Jones and Production Director Fee Plumley, and was edited by Ben Stebbing - all based in Manchester, UK. Thanks to Arts Council England for supporting us.

Ben and Fee have gone on to produce a number of innovatively creative mobile phone projects and education programmes via their company the-phone-book Limited, www.the-phone-book.ltd.uk . The most recent, The Burgess Project, launches at the Manchester Literature Festival October 19th, visit www.theburgessproject.com.
